Mary Harris

Mary "Louise" Harris, 93, of Du Quoin, went to be with the Lord at 7:00 A.M., Monday, February 16, 2004 at her residence.
Louise was a homemaker.  She had worked at Illinois Brokerage and Daniels Grocery Store.  She was a seventy-three year member of First Baptist Church in Du Quoin.  She was a member of WMU, Dakota and Vota Vita Sunday School Classes, taught Sunday School for over fifty years and had sponsored GA's.
She was born September 21, 1910 at Hubbardsville, KY, the daughter of Forrest William and Nora Elizabeth (Hicks) VanBussum.
She married Theodore "Ted" D. Harris on July 2, 1932 at Mt. Vernon, IN and he preceded her in death on November 6, 1979.
She is survived by one son - Larry Harris and wife Sherry of Johnston City, IL, two granddaughters - Laura Varacalli and husband Nick of Herrin and Tami Tomlinson and husband J.D. of Gainesville, FL, four great grandchildren - Joshua Varacalli and wife, Caleb Varacalli, John David Tomlinson and Taylor Tomlinson, two great great grandsons - Nicholas and Luka Varacalli, two sisters - Nellie Coughron of Henderson, KY and Verble Ditto of South Bend, IN,  two brothers - F.W. VanBussum and Robert VanBussum and wife Jeanette, all of Henderson, KY, many nieces and nephews and special caregivers - Darlene Alvis, Sara Atkins, and Dolores "Doe" Alvis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother - Clyde VanBussum, one half brother - Matthew VanBussum and one half sister - Maude Clark.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin
Friends may make memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Baptist Children's Home or First Baptist Church.
